However, under current law, there is no way to punish foreign spies for their espionage activities. In an attempt to prevent this situation, the espionage provisions of the criminal code have been amended, but the giant opposition party is stubbornly blocking it. Not only did the previous administration strip the National Intelligence Service of its counterespionage investigation authority, they are now attempting to abolish the National Security Act.
